I have three 14 week old goldline pullets, that i raised from chicks and have been in the same run with the rest of my flock but in a separate area, so they can just see eachother. But i have tken that away for a couple of weeks now, however they are still scared of the flock and will all sit on my hen house and POO all over it!!! Is there anyway i can stop them from going on it and mix with the rest of the flock? But the three of them recently have been sorting out their pecking order? Any help :)

Give them time. If they are now sorting themselves out they are probably nearly mature enough to get amongst the others. x

Hi Chickenz another little helping tip is, when you are introducing any new hens into the coop do it at night, and another thing that i know is done , is, spray a very light mix of watered down vinigar over all of the chickens, old and new, they will all smell the same then and hopefully reduce any stress that might otherwise arise by being different

I have two bantam chicks that, like yours Chickenz, are in a smaller run inside the larger run. They're with their mum. They're a month old now, and clearly too little to go among the 8 large fowl girls at the moment. But how old do they need to be before I put let them out to mix with the others?

When I want to introduce new stock to my breeding pens - I use psychology - I will move the breeding stock out of their pen & put the new birds into the pen. It then becomes the new birds pen.

After a few days, the breeding stock have been kept indoors, not such a nice home, are then put back within the pen. The new stock then become the dominant & the old breeding stock have to start again, on the pecking order.
