Hi, I have recently lost my miniature white silkie hen. We thought she may have gone broody but she is no where to be seen. The only other thing that crossed my mind was that she may have been taken by an owl as we do have many living in the barns where she and the other hens roost at night. Is this a possibility??

More likely to be a cat, rat, polecat, mink or fox than a owl, maybe she has just found a good nest site , hope you find her, all the best.

if it was an Owl like a Tawny the body would still be there, they have a habit of biting the heads off as the whole body id too heavy for them to take in one go, its the same with other rapters Buzzards tend to roll them ie eat in two sitting etc i agree with Topflight most likely rats or fox

Lets hope she's sitting tight somewhere on a batch of eggs and turns up with her chicks. I agree with topflight and lampro - most likely a fox, unlikely to be a bird. Fingers crossed!
