If farmers can shoot dogs who worry their livestock then can I do the same to cats that attack my birds?

Hi wolfie, Only if you want locking up. Cats are the only animals that can be turned out onto the streets in this country now, and they go and do anything they like,Most bird fanciers and gardeners hate them. If it was a rat in the garden you,d shoot it! but cat lover,s and the law tend to get upset.

Apparantly the protection of livestock act 1953 allows you to shoot dogs that worry domestic livestock but not cats. Thats quite astounding given the number of animals that cats kill every year.
Oh well if I catch one in the act I'll hoof it up in the air and let the law figure out whether defending my birds warrants the reaction.

If you have fencing around your garden carpet gripper is a good way to stop them coming in , iv never had to do it but i do hear of friends doing it . Im not sure if you are allowed to Undecided. Im lucky my cat takes no notice of the chicks or chickens infact sometimes i find her curled up in the coop with them Laughing , But she does do a very good job at catching mice .
