Hey
everybody,
I just wanted to let you all know about
a very fun
swapping initiative I'm undertaking to raise money for the
British Hen Welfare Trust, which rescues and rehomes battery
hens. It's something everybody can join in with and have fun
with, and isn't the normal 'please sponsor me' fundraiser.
In a nutshell, I started with an egg laid by one of my ex-bats,
and traded it for something of greater value, then swapped that
item for something of even more value and so on. The plan is to
carrying on until the final item can be auctioned off for the
BHWT. At the moment, the item I have up for swaps is a night for
2 people plus breakfast in a gorgeous Welsh guesthouse. Have a
look at the One Little Egg website - www.onelittleegg.co.uk
- and if
you fancy the night away, offer me something bigger and better
for it. Simple as that! It's something everybody can take part
in, and will hopefully raise money and awareness of battery
farming in an exciting and inclusive way. I'm hoping to make a
swap every week or two to keep it interesting, and hopefully each
swap will be bigger and better than the last. You can also keep
up to date on the twitter feed @OneLittleEgg and the Facebook
page http://on.fb.me/kpVdrO.
It relies on people getting into the spirit and joining in so
please don't be afraid to offer a swap - I have
had offers for everything from a kit kat to an electric walking
machine for past items, and I honestly appreciate every single
offer I get. Hope to speak to some of you fellow poultry lovers
soon
Sophie
(Thanks Jamie for letting me post this!)
