Well seeing as how there are no posts, thought I would give it a go
and start one. Forgive me if it is boring, never done this
before!
My girls and boy are all starting to get broody, bit of a pain as
cannot fit many more into the space available!
My light sussex (Big Momma) successfully hactched 2 aracauna X
hamburg chicks last week, now my little hen in the pic has also
gone broody. She waited until I went away and sat, by the time I
got back 1 egg had developed so too late to stop so might have a
chick in two weeks, having to keep it secret from the OH though!
watch this space!

Hi Rosie
I know what you mean, I have 8 hens all brooding at the moment,
garden looks a right mess with runs everywhere! They are all doing
really well considering the heat, bless them, amazing mums! I also
have 2 hens sitting, fingers crossed and 2 lots in incubators!!
Life's busy!!
and Joe, your lots seem to have it right, sunbathing

Just had to sell a lovely silkie 'hen' who gave the game away by
crowing!

My run is awash with feathers at the moment as 2 of the hens are
moulting. They haven't stopped laying so that's good. My young
silver Brahma is getting over a respiratory infection and has been
on Baytril for a week, she's looking a lot better but needs to put
on some weight. My gold Brahma, Savannah is thinking about going
broody again for the 4th time and she's only 11 months old! Not had
to sin bin her this time, she copes better with being locked out of
the coop after everyone's laid. Her language is appalling

Well Savannah has finally made it into the sin bin (again ), and is
not impressed! Had enough of her screaming at the other hens and
stopping them from laying, think I'll be leaving her in there until
Monday at least. My White Star, Angel is having her first proper
moult, and the poor thing looks like a plucked chicken, completely
bald underneath. Her temperament has changed from very sweet to bad
tempered and having a go at everyone. Not sure if there's anything
I can give her to help other than poultry spice .

aww bless angel! and yeah i think poultry spice is a good thing
for a chook who is a little under the weather, moulting, etc. I
sure she will go bac to her normal self soon. my lot always have
this is probably a daft question....but several times you have
mentioned the sin bin. i was just wondering what this meant?? As
soon as you say it'll probably be clearly apparent and ill feel
like a plank but ahwell haha.

I'm sure you will know what it means. A wire cage to put a broody
hen in to stop her being broody. Not that it works all the time,
but 9/10 times it will work fairly quickly, although Savannah seems
happy to sit on the wire in the dog cage she's in, so may have to
leave her in there for an extra couple of days to be sure.
Angel is looking a bit happier today, and not dropping quite as
many feathers. I'll add some poultry spice and cod liver oil to
their food, they were all on Flubenvet last week and didn't want to
put anything else in there lol.

Savannah is broody yet again...she's driving me nuts! Typically I'm
using the 'sin bin' for something else this week (hidey hole for
new birds), so having to keep chasing her from the nest box.
