Best Poultry Feeder?

I'm thinking about getting either a treadle feeder or pheasant peck feeder, anyone used either?
Fed up with Scarlett kicking pellets out of the trough every day, so would like something better. I really like the look of the pheasant feeder, but the idea of them pecking the pellets that then fall to the ground to be eaten really puts me off, seems to defeat the object! So if anyone has any experience of them, good or bad, would really like to hear Smile

Hi

The parkland automatic feeder works well - the bird pecks a yellow pecker and a controlled amount of seed/pellets is released and the bird eats it straight away (it has an adjuster, so you can decide how much feed falls). The barrel is made of a thick polyurethine material and keeps the food fresh all year round, it doesn't sweat in the summer or freeze in the winter. It is an ideal way of feeding the birds as it promotes free-range. It is also a deterent if you have problems with rats or other birds eating the feed, as it does not encourage a build-up of soggy mess which is trodden into the ground and ferments.

The Parkland feeders do look good, just the price that puts me off. I may go down that road though, but will have to investigate them a bit before deciding. The main problem really is I only have 8 hens, so spending £86 is a bit over the top, but then again, they are really spoiled hens Wink

Hi again

I know the price does seem rather high but if you calculated the waste that you have over a year - I am sure that the cost of the feeder would balance out. Also there is no cost to keeping vermin away . One tip - if you order direct over the phone the cost reduces as they have to put a surcharge on for a secure site. Hope this is helpful

Thanks, I'll look into it. Have spent £200 getting rid of a couple of rats, so would be worth it to stop any mess.
