Can anyone supply me with plans for an homemade incubator, the one
i'm thinking of uses the Maplin thermometer control (£5) and a
polystyrene box. Or sale me a very cheap one.

Don't know about cheap but one that works very well at
www.GQFMFG.com I have the ones with the fan & Automatic turer
they work great they payed for them self in two yaers

I have made a home made incubator and it was quite successful at
times getting 80% hatching rate. I used a seed propagator and I
drilled into the side of it and put a ordinary room therm0state
attached to a light 80 watt light bold inside the propagator. We
managed to get in to stay within a degree to 37.7. The only problem
we had with it when it came to hatching getting the humidity right
was hit ans miss. We insulated it and we still use it today as a
hatcher. Hope this helpful XD
