My Black Rocks are 20 weeks of age, when should I get the first
eggs ?. Will they start to lay if the weather remains cold and is a
long Winter ? A further question is when to expect Call Ducks to
start mating and laying ?. Hope you don't mind the questions.

The short answer is they will start laying when they are good and
ready and not a moment before, lol.
I never expect to see an egg from any of my pullets mine before
the end of Feb if they havent started laying before October.
Different books will tell you different things, the problem with
that is the birds havent read the books!

Hi, my very lovely light sussex, started to lay on the 13th Nov!
And has laid nearly 2 every day since! I'm up to appx 24 eggs now!!
I had given up hope that i wouldnt see site nor sound of an egg
till next year! The other day she laid one so big i think she laid
a duck!! Not surprisingly she had a rest the day after! I will put
the pic up soon! Im sure they will surprise you when you least
expect it!

Heard a lot of banging about from the hen house at lunch time
yesterday and found a bird sorting out the nest box and by tea time
a nice little egg was waiting.
