ark for winter

Any ideas how I can make my portable ark more weatherproof for winter for my little booted bantams I live in South wales valleys where we get snow and damp weather ? cheers all Smile

Creosote will help as the water just runs off. I would also raise it on bricks or a perimeter of slabs to stop the water rotting out the bottom edges. Its a bit of a fag when you move the ark but worth it in the long term.

i move my booted banties in doors for the winter as the wet conditions play hell with feathered legs & feet and can create all sorts of problems but if u have no choice maybe woodchip in the run and cover it with polly when the weathers bad mud is the enemy good luck TC

You could also fix sheets of translucent corrugated sheeting to the sides of the ark to keep it completely weatherproof . I have this on top of all my pens which means the pens stay relatively dry and the chooks can still play outside when its raining.
