hi, i have acockerel that tore it's spur, i put him in a cat
basket,
and let him settle down with some paper towel round his
foot,
whilst i got some medical bits together.
it had stopped bleeding, but the spur was hanging off, then it
started bleeding again,
does any body know the best way to bandge around the spur
or
what's the best tool for removing it and how near the quick can i
cut?
hoping you can help

You'll need to snip it off - I use a small pair of wire cutters.
When I take spurs down I do it a little tiny bit at a time till you
can just see the end of the vein. If I miss and cut it I put a blob
of vaseline on after squeezing the tip hard using a piece of
kitchen towel. It's useful to get a styptic pencil that men use
when they cut themselves shaving. It should grow again. Some people
take the spurs off with a hot potato.
