Hi guys.
Here are a couple of photos of my first Italian Quail Chicks. They are 4/5 days old in the photo. I reared them just on corrugated cardboard for the first couple of weeks. This helps to strengthen their legs.

Here are a couple of photos from the weekend. They are now off heat to. I added a small tray of sand to their cage and they loved it. Also got them on shavings now and they love to dust bath in the shavings as well.

Hope you like them.
Comments welcome.

Very nice Jamie, good to see you've sucessfully bred some of your stock, they look like strong birds. Will you be selling them on? Or keeping some back for layers/breeding? Well done :)

i havnt been lucky with my quails but as soon as i put the corturnix and chinese quails together there fine!

dont know much about quail :
i think the darker one is known as japanese quail, they are the "origionals".think the itallian quails are just"mutations" of them.

Hi Drew. Yes she has turned out to be a female with Japanese markings. I will take a photo of her tomorrow. I have sold most of the others I hatched in those photos.

Have several more Chinese Painted now, not hatched any more Italians yet due to incubator troubles but hoping to soon.

I will take some photos tomorrow of the 5 Chinese Painted Chicks I have and of that Jap hen.

Jamie.
