In ducks, bobbing is a social action, a friendly sort of "Hi how are you? I am a happy duck!" Also a behaviour used before mating. When female ducks head bob to the side that is to attract the attention of their favourite drake, accompanied with a lot of quacking. Yes I have spent hours watching my daft runner ducks!!!Laughing
