Hi. My name is Pete. I joined Poultry Talk yesterday. I live in a
small village called Millthorpe which is nearer to Chesterfield
than Sheffield, but I think of myself as a Barnsley lad which is
where I am originally from.
I'm interested in keeping Sussex's and managed to bid for my first
batch of eggs on ebay today. They are Red Sussex. I was going to
start with Lights as I find these really attractive but saw these
and I know that Reds are much more scarce than some of the other
colours. I dont have have any particular preference when it comes
to colour and eventually hope to have some of all the recognised
colours and maybe do a bit of breeding of my own, maybe
experimenting with new colours.
Any other Sussex fanciers out there?
Cheers.
Pete.

Hi Pete.
Sorry for not posting before. I notice you regularly pay us a visit
which is great to see. I hope you like the network and enjoy being
a member.
If you do have any feedback please let us know. Myself only kept
Speckled bantams before but I think Sussex are quite a nice breed.
I am sure you will meet more Sussex fanciers here as the network
grows.
Regards,
Jamie.

Hi Pete,
I'm from Sheffield originally (Broomhill area), still go back a few
times a year.
I keep bantam light sussex and use to have some bantum buff sussex
as well. Can't tell you a lot about the large fowl versions, but
the bantam sussex are the friendliest of all the breeds I've
had.
The reds should be good. Look out for silver and coronation too if
you're after more unusual colours.
