As you can see from the title I live in Malta. For those of you who
do not know where that is, it is a small island just 60km south of
Sicily. Even though I have always been very interested in chickens,
I have only just got around to actually starting to keep them
seriously. I am semi-retired and work in the local English speaking
newspaper as a librarian. I spent 18 years working in Libya and as
that meant travelling backwards and forwards a lot, I never had the
chance to get any poultry before now. At the moment I have four
normal brown egg layers that I originally got just to have fresh
eggs available, I also have one silkie cockerel, partridge colour
about 8 months old that I hatched from an egg sent from the UK and
three chicks in the brooder that I think are serama, wyandotte and
light sussex. I am hoping to specialise primarily in serama but as
they are few and far between in Malta, I am going to have to rely
on finding someone willing to sell and send me some hatching eggs
either from the UK or Europe.
I am looking forward to making a lot of new friends on this website
and hopefully learning a lot more about chickens in general.
For now this is all , I just wanted to say hello
Ken

Hi Ken, its nice having someone from back home so interested in
poultry, especially Silkies and Serama as I was until last year UK
Club secretary to both clubs. Its a shame I didnt know of your
interest before as I was visiting my sister in Zabbar on a couple
of weeks ago and I could have brought you some eggs for you from
reputable breeders here in the UK. Maybe when I come over again,
(possibly November and if the birds are laying??) I will let you
know one way or the other. Take care

hatching eggs sent from the UK reading your posts it seems it is

Do you know what the regulations are etc.
