Broody time

Am I right in thinking that our very cold weather this year is
postponing broodiness. I started hatching last year just around
this time and even then my Plymouth Rock had been broody for a good
week/10 days. This year so far not a sign of any of mine going
broody and I am waiting patiently to see if my Buff Sussex cockerel
has been successful in his very, very numerous exploits!
Any thoughts?

Hi Jojo.
Yes it may be our unsettled weather. Although it has been lovely
the past week, they may need a bit longer. You could try leaving
some eggs in the nest to encourage them to go broody?
Regards
Jamie.

Are they going broody yet? Some of mine are broody but my two
Craods which I want to breed are going broody but stopped laying
two days ago! I keep telling them they need to lay eggs or its a
waste of time sitting but they are not listening to me.
