Want to be self sufficient and have chickens in Bulgaria

In 2006 I moved to rural Bulgaria. At the time it was meant to be
for the long term and was supposed to be moving over with long
term partner and we were going to renovate properties and sell on
and do property maintenance for other Brits. However, he decided
not to come at last minute and I went on my own. I spent just
over 3 years there and renovated several properties and got a
good reputation for helping other Brits move over and renovate
there. However, I now split my time between France and Bulgaria
and am finding it too hard to manage all my properties from afar.
I have struggled to find anyone reliable to look after things and
been badly let down and scammed by a few people.
However, while I have a handful of my rural places up for sale
cheap, I do not currently want to sell my renovated places as put
a lot of time and effort into getting them nice. My aim would be
to keep my main home there as a holiday home and visit in the
summer for a few months and for the odd week throughout rest of
year and rent out 2 or 3 other places (all in same
village).
Basically I would accept 200E/mth plus bills. I would expect in return: 1. Any small DIY jobs or maintenance doing on 4 properties I own in the same village. Not likely to be much, maybe the odd broken tap, small leak etc. Checking regularly in my absence (mainly over winter, I am likely to be there most of summer). 2. My main house is next door but I split my time between Bulgaria and France and so would want my garden looking after in my absence - grass cutting, weeding etc - although I am there much of summer. I also have a large vegetable area (around 15m x 15m) and you could use this area for growing vegetables as well. Looking after gardens in rental properties - mainly grass cutting and weeding. I will be there to help as well in summer as enjoy gardening and have all the tools - rotavator, chain saw etc. I have a plot with an old house on it that needs clearing but this land might be available for use as well if you wanted to keep livestock say. I am looking for long term rent - say 2 to 3 years. I would need a fairly large deposit as have had a lot of trouble with tenants in the past - so probably 600E deposit. And would ask for at least 3 month's rent up front. And ideally references. The house is unfurnished. The village has a kindergarten and school and shops and restaurant. There is a wood burner in the lounge and would then need electric heaters in other rooms. There is some wood available and plenty can be chopped down and cleared form other plots. Water is metered but very cheap - 10 Euros/mth. Electric bills likely to be around 30 to 40 Euros/mth in summer and double that in winter. No problem with pets if you want to bring them. Place would make an ideal B&B as downstairs separate with ensuite bedroom, kitchen and lounge and then 3 bedrooms upstairs and bathroom and their is lovely BBQ house. Looking for long term tenant relationship with honest, trustworthy and fun people. Someone that would keep good eye on my properties when I am not there and that I can trust. Someone that enjoys gardening, good at DIY would be an advantage, wants to keep some chickens etc.
There maybe the possibility of small amount of additional work
doing building, DIY and gardening for other Brits in area. Let me know if interested. Looking to start rent in May. Would be great to finally find a couple that will be around long term and are honest and reliable. |
