Breeding shed designs/thoughts?

Hi guys.

Well I know some of you may be planning to build or get someone to build some for you.. so what are your thoughts on the best designs of breeding houses/sheds/pens.

How can you maximise the space you have to get the best for you and your birds? To allow easy access for care and cleaning, to incorporate features into your design to allow for easy disenfection? and to provide pens that are suited for the different breeds you may have and ages.

Would be interesting to hear this.. and to also help myself and other people who may be planning or who would like to build a breeding shed/block in the furture? Maybe you have one and now have a few things you would change...?

Look forward to your replys.

Regards
Jamie.

I have a mixed shed of free rangers and a pen with breeding trios. I use a 6 x 4 shed split into two halves. I prefer sheds as I can stand up easy in them to clean them out. My birds are large so have large nest boxes close to the ground. The nest boxes and perch are free standing so I just take them out sweep the floor and put everything back in. Its done in about 10 minutes.

My main shed (breeze block building) also has free standing nest boxes so I can pull those out too. I'm going to change the fixed perches for free standing as they are much easier to clean and inspect for red mite.

i think breeding blocks are probably most cost effective and easy to cleen but also some biger pens are good for young birds or larger groups

it is a block of breeding pens: breeding pens or cages stuck side by side or on top of eachother

ok, thanks. I have my breeding trio in a pen with a shed in it but my chicks and growers are in mobile runs and coop so I can keep them on fresh grass.

If I had the money (and time to expand) I would like a chick/grower shed with lots of cages in which sounds like your breeding block. I've had to move my car out of the garage and put my incy and young chicks in there in their brooders.

Any chance of anyone experienced posting pictures of their breeding set ups?
