Anyone been to a poultry auction lately?

How did you find the experience? Name it, praise it or shame it.

We can then make a list of those to visit and those to give a miss. This is a follow up to the topic posted last year.

Hello,
In my mind poultry auctions are the lung of the fancy, they are bringing new blood in to your ''pack'' if you like. My favourite auction is the clitheroe scheduled poultry sale, not the wednesday sale. The wednesday sale is people turning up with unwanted birds, with numerous diseases, to get rid of them, not caring who they go to! There is also alot of people who go there for meat, not the loving pets we keep them for! The scheduled auction is one of the top in the country, will well known fanciers and breeders selling there surplus stcock, to other poultry fanciers! Supreme champions of the scottish national, national and federation have all been sold here!

Hi dan, you really seem to know your stuff for a youngster, the hobbie needs a lot more like you to carry on, Instead of them sitting in bedrooms on the playstation! Fair play to you mate, all the best.

Hi Topflight.

I just had to comment and say Dan is a real credit to the hobby and is so passionate. The UK's youngest judge to, so I am very pleased to say he will be joining the 'Poultry Talk. com Team' and playing a more active role here with our new website. We look forward to hearing lots more from Dan and it's great to have him 'on board'.

Regards
Jamie.
