Change of bill colour. Is this normal?

One of my show ducks has started to loose the brown saddle markings on her bill. Is this normal as its only happened to one of them? Will the colour return when the breeding season is over? Surely someone has heard or seen this before and can enlighten me. I haven't been able to find anyone posting anything about their ducks/waterfoul doing this as yet.
