One of my hens has recently got really tired and slow moving and sometimes hunches up and sits in the corner on her own. She has a very pale comb, isnt laying any eggs, recently moulted and has bright yellow poo!! Any help?!?!?!

I don't know about yellow poo, but the pale comb and lack of eggs could be red mite. I know it's the wrong season, but how about running some kitchen towel along the bottom of the perch after dark to see if that's the problem. At least you could rule it out if it isn't. Good luck, sorry I can't help much.

Have you wormed your flock resently?

Ditto have you wormed, and what with?

Yellow poos are Caecal poos and can be normal. Just keep an eye on her, make sure she is eating and add a tonic (like LifeGuard) to her water if you have some

I'd recommend worming her with Flubenvet - should be done quarterly, 4 times a year.

Its a powder you add to their feed, can get online or from Countrywide/the vets

Hi Chickenz, Is the dosage that confuses you?
What is the dosage on the label/instructions and I will try and help?

Did you get the smaller 60g pot which is 1% or the bigger 2.5% pot?

If the 1% I think you just weigh out 2kg of feed, add 1 scoop (provided) of Flubenvet and a bit of Cod Liver/Omega/Olive Oil to make it stick Smile

I would aggree with the above Regarding worming - Add the olive oil or vegetable oil to the feed mix well and then add the powder otherwise it clumps.. We make a batch up and then have it in a sealed tub for the week - make sure you feed the birds for a week with the flubenvet - personally if the bird is suspected of carrying a heavy worm burden i would double the dosage - it says you can on the back of the tub. I would also add some Apple Cider Vinegar to the water to give the birds a pick me up and then also use louse powder on the birds... If you cover Lice / mites / worms and internal problems with the above there is not much else you could miss and the birds should recover. Have you checked under your perches for red mite - they won't be visible on the birds unless you check them at night. Bev
