Can anyone recommend a good place in Leicestershire that I can get ex batt or rescue chucks from?

Have you tried contacting the British Hen Welfare Trust?

Its a great thing to do - especially with all the current Battery cages being illegal at the start of 2012 ... millions of battery chickens will be coming out before December.
