Hi everyone,
I'm a poultry keeping novice from Lancashire, but I'm hoping to gain a bit more knowledge and experience about poultry. I think they are a great hobby, and I currently have 18 chickens and bantams, including some I have bred and hatched myself.

Welcome Cluck Cluck. I imagine you're doing as much research on poultry-keeping as you can, so that you are able to do the very best for your new flock.

One thing I'd advise you to do now, is to check round your local vets to see if any of them know about chickens, so that if the time comes when you need one (and you will), you can go straight to somebody who knows what they're doing. If you can find a rural vet, someone who specialises in farm animals, that would be your best bet. Town vets rarely have a clue about chicken health.

Hi there
You already have loads of chucks to look after so in at the deep end then.
Welcome from me in norfolk all good advise so far a good poultry vet is a must so few know about chickens and can waste your time and money. However an old poultry keeper told me.... keep them stress free well fed on clean ground with....very important this CLEAN WATER and they will do fine .....a little apple cider vineger in the water (for a clean gut) garlic too (to help keep down the worms) If you have wood ash from your fire for the dust bath to help keep out the mites ...sorted nice healthy hensWink. these days a need for tonics and the odd antibiotic treatment is needed but other than that it all works for me
