i bought two silkie chicks 2 weeks ago the one is roughly a week
older than the other as out of two different batches of eggs i had
them from the sunday and on the thursday i got up to a dead chick
they were bought fror my very young children and my 2 year old was
devasted so i phoned the lady and she said come and get another one
so i did, now i have had it 5 days it was one from the younger
groups as thats the only one she had remaining when i picked it up
it seemed huge compared to mine so i assumed mine must have died
due to it not developing and an underlying problem, however today
its been so hot but when i returned from work at 9 it seems to be
squeaking a lot and its vent seems to be pulsating and poo was
stuck to bum but i dont think it was to do with vent it seemed to
be detached but stuck to fluffy feathers but i'm totally clueless
as these are my first chicks, i've completly cleaned them out as
they had got there water bowl full of food and stuff but their food
is dry and normal certainly no mould.
the chick seems to be shivering but feels warm to the touch???
but it could just be movement due to constant squeaking??? its a
really warm night they are in a conservatory with a 60watt bulb
which is all they were used to in a shed so must be warmer in my
house? plus its warmer weather and the chick must be atleast 4/5
weeks old now?
i'm not sure what to do as really dont want to lose another chick
the bigger chick isnt aggressive or doesnt bully little one but
it is thriving and the little one doesnt seem to have grown much
in last few days but has got more feathers on legs so just
assumed it was normal
has anyone got any ideas on what it could be or what to do?
