TOADSTOOL & CHICKENS

HI! ALL,it's my winter now and i normally feed my girls lawn
clippings for some greens. yet this time of year brings toadstools
in the lawn. does any one know if toadstools are poison to chickens
if eaten with the clippings? please NO uninformed comment thanks if
you don't know please say so.i'd hate to loose my girls if informed
on here say not FACT.

Hi Norm
In my limited experience, my chickens ignore any fungi that pops
up in the lawn - they just don't touch it. But then, while
they're out on our lawn, there's lots of other stuff to eat. I've
seen a fairly bald field with field mushrooms and the chickens in
the field weren't touching them, either. But I don't want to
guarantee your toadstools as safe!
But I'd never give my chickens lawn clippings - I've been told
they can compact in the crop and kill a bird. I've never done it
though, so can't say that that's a fact, either!
