hi i have recently bought 6 chicks 3 bantams and 3 silver laced wyandotts
unfortunatley 2 pekins a cream and a cockoo have turned out to be cockerels
and 1 wyandotte is also a boy, i dont have room to keep them seperate, the
pekins are ganging up on the wyandotte. Is there anyone out there in the bedfordshire
area that could take them off my hands (free) i can deliver
PLEASE HELP getting desparate now to find homes .

cull them ....this may sound abit rough but when you get unsexed chicks you have to take the chance and if you do get males you need to cull as its so hard to rehome males have a look on other forums at the free to good home bits and you will see there full of soft hearted people who want to rehome there boys

I do agree with what pet chickens is saying. No offence but if you can't keep boys or have no where of putting them do not buy un-sexed chicks. It is anoying but majority of cockerels do not sell or go to new homes un-less they are outstanding to the breed or Extremely rare. I hope for the best Lyndi and hope some wants your little boys :)

This is the problem when you buy chicks but if I sell over 6 weeks old
& sex them - then I will exchange any that I get wrong.
I have had to exchange 2 so far this year but every time I move up pens,
I do cull the cockerels as I go.
That way, you don't have to feed them & I reduce the likelyhood of getting it wrong.

I have lots of people ask if I can take cockrels off them & some don't ask, they just leave them
for me when I get home.
I wish you luck with re-homing, it can be done - you just need the right person who requires the
right cockerel, at the right time.

if the cockerel is from show stock or a rare breed ..or if one wants a certain colour to breed from then yes you can rehome them but if there mixed breed or colours or the right person aint turned up then its simple cull them i give my boys till they crow and then there culled dont get me wrong i culled a beautiful salmon pekin from showstock because he was a devil and crowed all day every day and 2 days after i culled him a friend of a friend wanted a typey salmon pekin cock .....guited ...but then i dont sell my boys i just give them away to real homes id rather i cull them and know they had a good life then let them go to the joe public and they end up in the wrong hands
